Apocalyptically Ever After

I was only expecting to share my new Globe story this week, but I am happy to announce that I am the winner of Matthew Cross’ September Contest! Matthew wrote a great dystopian story about an android tasked with protecting a vast library of the world’s culture when he comes across a young orphaned girl. As I started writing, I knew I wanted a hopeful ending for our characters. Suddenly The Book of Eli popped in my head, and I knew the direction I would take the story.

I am honored that Matthew chose it as his winner for the month. As a winner from 2020 and previous finalist, I never go into the contest intending to win. I enjoy the challenge of matching Matthew’s style and tone he’s set forth. It is incredible practice to strengthen my writing and a chance to explore a story I might not have thought to write without Matthew’s inspiration.

Without further adieu, here is “After the Fall”. Let me know what you think!
